Decisions being made...

The pre-production process has stalled a bit. Part of the reason for the delay is due to some personal b.s. but the other related reason is really working out the logistics of how to achieve the best possible original film possible within the extremely limited budget constraints. There had also been some cast and crew issues revolving around scheduling mainly.

Check back with in the month and I'm sure there will have been some decisions and clarifications on the direction of the vision.

Pre-Final Draft Done.

Alright, the title says it all. The pre-final draft of the screenplay is done. I'll be reading it tonight and then making sure the next step, with more detailed storyboards, goes smoothly.

Feeling great and the sun is out. It's a great day!

Filled up the storyboard with the shots needed to help better visualize the flow of the story. It's quite intuitive, like using a timeline view in an editing program... Going to be working on filling in the holes with some story putty, followed by sanding it down and then polishing it... ;)

Today was a pretty productive day, as was yesterday. The big news for today is that another main cast member has been cast! Matthew Fetters is on board with playing the lead guitarist, Jack. In fact, I was able to sit down today and jam out, seriously with three of the four guys that will be performing in the film. The jams were amazing! There was even a chance for us to jam out a couple of the songs for the film. Rockin!!!

First, though I'd been pleased with the latest draft, I gave the draft to the key cast and crew and have received their feedback. So, though I'm not surprised, I'll be doing the additions that will really bring this story to the next level. I'm still pulling from the original stories but again, I'm really telling the story that I originally intended to.

People I'm working with are amazing. Their enthusiasm is encouraging and truly the synergy that has culminated from this group coming together is more than I ever imagined. I've been getting past the initial relative shock at how effortlessly it has seemed to fall into place, like the puzzle pieces seemingly just falling into their places. Warhol would dig this... @ least from what I've heard of him. I think the team would agree.

Tomorrow, the 21st, I'm sitting down with Arin Lampkin to work on the first rough storyboards. Though I haven't written in the additional scenes just yet, we will be at least blocking out the scenes on the storyboard to get a clearer focus on exactly how we want to structure the story, write a pre-final draft, do more detailed storyboards, do a final draft of the script and then finalize detailed shot by shot storyboards. We have discussed doing some cinematics for making decisions in preproduction about pacing of the music.

Update

So, welcome to those I sent emails to tonight, if you are visiting this site.

I believe in concepts like, "You never know if you never ask". I also know that people are people and there are more dreamers out there than we tend to believe. There are also doers. Then there are people who are dreamers and doers... These people don't accept limits. These people work towards paradigm shifts.

As my mother said, "we're Kermit people". We see the rainbow connection.

Latest Draft of Screenplay

Alright, I'm stoked! I've been working on some of the revisions for the screenplay and this draft is feeling really good. Having recently hooked up with the people who are not only excited to play the roles but also perfect for them, it was really an interesting experience for me to be able to actually picture the real people who will be playing the characters in this story. It's just magical seeing it come to life.

The calendar should get some scheduling entries soon. It's our hope that there won't be any problem getting Extras who want to show up to see 'the band' for free and enjoy live music and get to be in a movie...

Update - Coming Together

It's been a great week! Pre-Production is officially underway! Though the detailed planning has yet to be done during this pre-production phase, the rough schedule is gelling, with around 2 months of practices and rehearsals and filming currently slated for 2-3 weeks beginning mid to late July. So, based on that, a final version of the film could be ready for screening as early as mid-September. Check the Calendar for scheduling.

Some of the main casting is done and I'll be working with them closely running lines and helping them learn the songs, when needed. I'm quite pleased with the level of talent I have for the roles filled. Auditions will be held soon for the remaining cast and there may be some crew positions available as well. The main cast and crew will be a small group actually.

I've got to get to work but expect some site changes in the coming weeks as well.
